Health workers with COVID-19 now 2,869; recoveries up to 1,839

The number of healthcare workers who have contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) climbed to 2,869 as of June 13, the Department of Health (DOH) reported on Sunday.

In its daily COVID-19 report, the DOH said 1,839 of these health workers have recovered from the respiratory illness, while the death toll has remained at 33 since June 10.

The other 997 medical workers are active cases undergoing treatment or quarantine.

Of this number, 943 are mild cases and 54 are asymptomatic. None of the patients are in severe or critical condition.

The five medical professions with the highest number of COVID-19 cases are nurses with 1,047 infections, followed by doctors with 753, nursing assistants with 188, medical technologists with 114, and radiologic technologists with 56 cases.

The DOH also included 379 other non-medical staff in the tally.

Health workers account for 11 percent of the total cases nationwide.

The Philippines has logged 25,930 COVID-19 cases with 5,954 recoveries and 1,088 deaths as of Sunday afternoon. — BM, GMA News
