IATF tackling appeals of several LGUs on quarantine status –Palace

The government’s COVID-19 task force is deliberating on the appeals of local government units on their quarantine classifications, Malacañang said Monday.

The provinces of Quezon, Abra, Apayao and Lanao del Sur as well as the Caraga region have asked to be classified under general community quarantine, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a televised briefing.

Cebu City, meanwhile, wished to revert back to a modified enhanced community quarantine while Dagupan City, Batanes, Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental and Davao del Sur have pushed for a "deescalation of quarantine status."

Pangasinan, Angeles City, Nueva Ecija, Zambales, Pampanga, Cavite and Cebu province have asked to be downgraded to a modified general community quarantine.

Roque said the IATF’s decision on the appeals will be announced during President Rodrigo Duterte’s address to the nation later Monday.

Duterte earlier placed the Cordillera Administrative Region, Regions I (except Pangasinan), IV-B, V, VI, VIII, IX (except Zamboanga City), X, XI (except Davao City) and XII, CARAGA, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao under modified GCQ from June 1 to 15.

The rest of the country, including Metro Manila, is under GCQ. --KBK, GMA News
