Philippines reports 364 more COVID-19 cases, total up to 26,781

The Philippines on Tuesday logged 364 more cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)—249 “fresh” or newly validated and 115 reported late—bringing the total to 26,781.

The Department of Health (DOH) also announced that total recoveries rose to 6,552 after a record-high 301 more patients recovered from the respiratory illness, while the death toll climbed to 1,103 with five new fatalities.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said three previously reported cases that were verified to be negative were removed from the total tally of infections.

Among the fresh cases, 128 are from Metro Manila, 56 are from Region VII, while the remaining 65 are spread out across the country.

Among the late cases, 24 are from Metro Manila, three are from Region VII, while the 88 other patients came from various areas nationwide.

As of June 13, the Philippines has 44 certified polymerase chain reaction facilities and 15 GeneXpert laboratories that have tested a total of 467,564 individuals. 

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier reimposed the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) over Cebu City and modified ECQ over Talisay City, while most other areas nationwide, including Metro Manila, are still under general community quarantine. —LDF, GMA News
