Hospital refutes online rumor that OVP sent it spoiled food

The Diliman Doctors Hospital in Quezon City on Tuesday refuted claims made by a Facebook user that the Office of Vice President Leni Robredo distributed spoiled food to its frontliners.

“Our institution received food donation on 3 occasions from the Office of the Vice President, none of which have been found to be spoiled,” it said in a statement.

The now-deleted post, written by a certain "Jacques Phillip," also claimed that the Vice President's spokesperson Barry Gutierrez tried to bribe the management with money to hush the matter up.

The hospital denied this.

"Atty. Gutierrez or any representative from the Vice President’s Office never surfaced in our hospital to offer monetary payoff," it said.

An expat based in Angeles City, Pampanga, according to his profile, Jacques Phillip also claimed that Robredo herself went to the hospital but its president refused to meet her.

The hospital said that this is not true and that on the contrary, "It [would] have been an honor to see the Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines, Honorable Leni Robredo, visiting our hospital in this COVID pandemic."

Robredo earlier denied the claims and said that Jacques Phillip should have verified the information before posting it on social media. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
