HRET on lockdown due to possible COVID-19 case —Leonen

The premises of the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal in Quezon City has been put on a 14-day lockdown due to a possible case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen said Thursday.

Leonen, who chairs HRET, said essential staff will do work from home.

“As HRET Chair, I ordered the lockdown of the HRET premises for disinfection and quarantine of all its personnel for 14 days due to a possible case of COVID-19 last Tuesday afternoon,” he said.

He added the person may have been infected after they did a staff-wide rapid test a week ago.

He said the person was a liaison between government offices.

“We have also informed the other government agency involved. We will inform all litigants and their lawyers,” said Leonen.

The HRET handles issues relating to the election, returns, and qualifications of the members of the House of Representatives. It is composed of nine members, including three SC justices and six House members.—AOL, GMA News
