127 foreigners in Philippines have COVID-19 – DOH


Over 100 foreign nationals in the Philippines have contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Department of Health (DOH) said Monday.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that of the 127 foreigners in the country infected with COVID-19, 74 had been discharged from the hospital while eight died.

The remaining 45 foreigners were still in hospital.

“For the COVID-19 patients currently admitted in Chinese General Hospital, confirmed positive [cases] are Filipinos who are mostly from Metro Manila,” Vergeire said in a briefing.

The Manila International Airport Authority on Saturday announced that international flight operations at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport would resume on Wednesday, July 8.

The Philippines has logged 46,333 COVID-19 cases with 12,185 recoveries and 1,303 deaths. — DVM, GMA News
