The Philippines’ COVID-19 task force has allowed barbershops and salons to offer more services as the government continues to gradually ease restrictions to jumpstart the economy.

In a televised briefing on Tuesday, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said these establishments may now offer all haircutting and hair treatment services in areas under general community quarantine (GCQ).

On the other hand, these services will be available in areas under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ):

  • all haircutting services
  • hair treatment services

  • nail care services
  • basic facial care (make-up, eyebrow threading, eyelash extension and facial massage)
  • basic personal care services (waxing, threading, shaving, foot spa and hand spa)

Starting July 16, barbershops and salons can operate up to 50% and 75% of venue capacity in GCQ and MGCQ areas, respectively.

Roque said these establishments must comply with the health protocols such as hand sanitation, physical distancing, sterilized equipment and wearing of face masks. —KBK, GMA News
