Over 100 bound for Dubai stopped from boarding flights due to UAE swab test requirement

More than 100 Dubai-bound passengers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport were stopped from boarding their flights after the United Arab Emirates government suddenly required all its arriving, transfer and transit passengers from several countries including the Philippines to obtain a COVID-19 negative swab test result prior to their departure.

According to Chino Gaston’s report on “24 Oras” on Tuesday, due to the new policy of the UAE government, only 68 out of the 168 Dubai-bound passengers were able to board their flights.

With this, several Filipinos were dismayed, saying that the policy was sudden.

“Nasa loob na kami tapos last minute na sinabi na kailangan ng swab test at tsaka RBC test,” Mark Cordero said.

“‘Yon nga lang talaga ang problema sa Dubai, last minute talaga nagsabi,” he added.

Meanwhile, Philippine Airlines said it tried to negotiate with the UAE government to allow the passengers to board but it was rejected.

PAL added it just advised its passengers to rebook or refund their flights. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
