Senate employee succumbs to COVID-19

Another member of the Senate staff has died during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Senate Secretary Myra Villarica said the Senate employee who died on Thursday afternoon had the coronavirus.

Villarica said the employee appeared to be getting better until his oxygen saturation level dropped on Thursday.

"I hope you won't mention his name anymore, family may not want his name to be in the news," Villarica said.

A staff member of the Senate's Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms died of pneumonia on July 1.

It was not immediately determined if he was COVID-19-positive.
