St. Luke's ICU, critical care beds, wards for COVID-19 reach full capacity

St. Luke’s Medical Center said Monday the critical care beds for COVID-19 cases in its emergency room, which it has increased to twice the capacity, are now fully occupied.

“The critical care beds in the emergency room, which we have increased to twice the capacity to cater to more COVID-19 cases, have also reached full capacity,” it said in a public advisory posted on its Facebook account.

It added the COVID-19 wards in both its hospitals in Quezon City and in Global City, Taguig are likewise full.

“Several patients for admission are now lined up in the Emergency Room,” it said.

SLMC reiterated that all the intensive care units for COVID-19 patients for both its hospitals are now occupied.

“We wish to inform the public that St. Luke’s Medical Center has now reached full capacity in all intensive care units for COVID-19 patients for both hospitals in Quezon City and in Global City,” it said.

It encouraged COVID-19 patients, including suspect and probable cases, to temporarily seek treatment from other healthcare facilities for the time being.

Just last week, the medical institution announced that its allocated COVID-19 ICU beds have reached full capacity.

As of July 19, the Philippines recorded 67,456 COVID-19 cases with 22,465 recoveries and 1,831 fatalities.

There are 43,160 active cases undergoing treatment or quarantine, 90.1 percent of which are mild, 9.1 percent are asymptomatic, 0.4 percent are severe, and 0.4 percent are in critical condition.—AOL, GMA News
