Manila Bishop Pabillo has COVID-19

Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo said Thursday he had tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In a statement, he confirmed that he tested positive in the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test.

Although he “does not feel anything,” Pabillo said he will still follow the protocol to undergo quarantine.

“I am now in a designated area for quarantine observing strict protocol as required,” he said.

“My condition is being monitored and I take healthy food and vitamins, and do physical exercise,” Pabillo added.

Meanwhile, Pabillo said his staff has tested negative for the illness and those who had close contact with him last week have been informed of his condition so they can follow necessary safety measures.

“I know this virus will pass, so please do not worry about me, although prayers would be very much appreciated,” he said.

Since he is not exhibiting any symptoms, Pabillo said he will still attend his scheduled online meetings.

“Life must go on,” he said.

Moreover, Pabillo said one of the priests of the Archdiocese of Manila will celebrate the Sunday mass at 10 a.m. and the Monday mass at noon at the Manila Cathedral.

The assigned priest will also read the respective homilies he has prepared. -NB, GMA News
