MVP agrees to increase COVID-19 beds in MPHI hospitals –DOH

Businessman Manny Pangilinan agreed to increase COVID-19 bed allocations in Metro Pacific Holdings Inc. (MPHI) hospitals up to 30 percent, the Department of Health (DOH) announced Friday.

In a live briefing, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that Pangilinan came to an agreement with Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and the DOH treatment czar Bong Vega.

“Gusto rin po naming ibahagi ang bagong balita na nakipagusap na po… kay Manny V. Pangilinan na nagpakita ng suporta at tulong sa ating laban kontra COVID-19,” Vergeire said.

"He has agreed to increase the bed allocation in his MPHI Hospitals all over the country to reach 20 to 30 percent,” she added.

Vergeire said Pangilinan also vowed to help build the 250-bed COVID-19 hospital at the East Avenue Medical Center, complete with hospital and ICU beds as well as mechanical ventilators.

“Ang suporta at kolaborasyon natin with the private sector ay malaking tulong upang makabangon po ang ating bansa sa pandemyang ito,” she said.

“Nagpapasalamat po kami, nagpapasalamat po ang Kagawaran ng Kalusugan, kay MVP para dito,” she added.

On Friday, the country reported a total of 76,444 COVID-19 cases with 24,502 recoveries and 1,879 fatalities. — DVM, GMA News
