VP Robredo says she's among uninvited at physical SONA

Vice President Leni Robredo is not on the list of those invited to physically attend President Rodrigo Duterte's 5th State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the Batasang Pambansa on Monday.

In her radio program on Sunday, VP Robredo said, "Hindi ako imbitado sa House of Representatives ... Iyong na-receive namin na invitation ay Zoom, so iyon yung pupuntahan ko."

Robredo's radio co-anchor asked her if she was among those invited to appear physically at the House of Representatives, because only a few were allowed to be there due to the COVID-19 threat, as physical distancing needed to be observed, among other measures.

Likewise, she pointed out that she will attend the SONA via Zoom videoconferencing as she considers it her office's duty to be there.

But she made clear what she wanted to hear from the President's SONA .

She said she wants to hear Duterte’s plan in addressing the COVID-19 health and economic crisis, particularly the country's recovery plan.

“Ang sinasabi ni Secretary [Harry] Roque, ihahayag ng pangulo ‘yung COVID-19 recovery plan, so ito ‘yung inaasahan natin,” she said.

“Maa-appreciate natin ‘yung recovery plan, pero patuloy pa rin ang pagtaas ng kaso. So gusto nating marinig ano po ‘yung plano natin para ma-arrest ‘yung pagtaas ng mga kaso,” she added.

Robredo pointed out that while efforts are in place to prevent the spread of the virus, the number of cases keeps on increasing. —LBG, GMA News
