DOTr urges employers to hire PUVs as shuttle service for employees

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Tuesday encouraged private sector employers to hire public utility vehicles (PUVs) as their shuttle service for their employees.

All modes of public transportation are suspended anew after the government placed the National Capital Region and the provinces of Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite, and Riza under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) starting August 4 to 18 after medical frontliners asked for a stricter quarantine status for two weeks

“Hinihikayat po namin ang mga pribadong kumpanya na mag-hire o mag-lease ng mga pampublikong sasakyan, gaya ng bus, UV Express, at modern o traditional jeepneys na hindi makakabiyahe ngayong MECQ, upang maging shuttle service ng kani-kanilang empleyado,” the DOTr said in a statement.

The Transportation Department noted that there is no need to apply for a special permit when private companies hire PUVs as their shuttle service.

“Kailangan lamang po ay magpakita ang driver ng certificate / authorization letter o letter of intent mula sa kumpanya, na may nakasaad na partikular na ruta, bilang patunay na ang pampublikong sasakyan ay ginagamit na shuttle service,” it said.

The DOTr said the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will provide a list of operators and their respective contact numbers to help companies in need of shuttle services. — Ted Cordero/RSJ, GMA News
