PNP records 33 new COVID-19 cases; total now at 2,437


The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday recorded 33 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among its personnel, raising the total number to 2,347.

Latest data from the PNP showed that of the new cases, 15 came from the National Capital Region Police Office; four from Police Regional Office (PRO) IV-A; two came each from PRO IV-B, PRO VI, PRO I, and the Intelligence Group; and one each came from the National Headquarters, the Information Technology Management Service, the Headquarters Support Service, the Drug Enforcement Group, the Anti-Cybercrime Group, and the Crime Laboratory.

Moreover, total recoveries climbed to 1,384 after 55 more patients recovered from the illness, while the death toll within the PNP remained at 11.

As of 6 p.m. of August 5, there were 2,354 suspected COVID-19 cases and 886 probable cases within the PNP.
