DSWD: 72.4% of target cash aid beneficiaries received second tranche

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Thursday said 72.4% or 10.2 million of the 14.1 million target beneficiaries of the government's Social Amelioration Program (SAP) have received the second tranche of the cash aid.

In a press conference, DSWD Undersecretary Rene Glen Paje said around P66.4 billion has been distributed to low income families affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

“Ito ay tinatayang nasa 72.4 percent na ng kabuuang bilang ng mga benepisyaryo na nakatanggap sa second tranche ng ating Social Amelioration Program,” he said.

Over 1.3 million of the recipients were Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries while 5.2 million were non-4P beneficiaries, Paje said.

He added that more than 2.6 million beneficiaries were waitlisted while 1 million were residents in areas under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

DSWD originally set to finish the distribution of second tranche in July. According to Paje, DSWD now targets to finish the distribution in the middle of August.

Paje  earlier admitted delay in the distribution because only 4.3 million beneficiaries have registered in ReliefAgad, an application for the planned cashless and digital distribution of the aid for faster process of payout. —KBK, GMA News
