Duterte salutes Singapore's efforts vs COVID-19 in National Day message

President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday acknowledged efforts against the coronavirus disease in cooperation with Singapore, which is celebrating the jubilee of its National Day.

In a statement, Malacanang said the Philippines remains committed to further expand and deepen its partnership with Singapore.

"On the occasion of the jubilee celebration of the Republic of Singapore’s National Day, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte conveyed warm felicitations and greetings to President Halimah Yacob," the statement read.

"President Duterte has acknowledged Singapore’s continuing cooperation with the Philippines in fighting COVID-19, including in further strengthening the capacities of the Philippines’ public health system service providers and addressing immediate and short term needs relating to vital medical supplies and equipment," it added.

In the same statement, Duterte stressed the importance of working together to address challenges to ASEAN peoples, including the global health crisis.

The Philippines on Sunday reported 3,109 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the total confirmed cases to 129,313. This includes 67,673 recoveries and 2,270 deaths.
