2 NDRRMC employees died due to COVID-19 — spokesperson

Two employees of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) died due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the agency's official said Monday.

“Sinawing palad po na may dalawa kaming kasama na nasawi pero ito po ay ginagawa naming inspirasyon sa pagpapatuloy po ng aming pagta-trabaho at na mas magi-ingat kami,” NDRRMC spokesperson Mark Timbal said in an interview on Dobol B sa News TV.

Timbal, however, did not disclose when the employees died.

He said the employees who succumbed to the illness were exposed because they were the ones in charge of dispatching donated items to hospitals.

Timbal said he and the rest of the NDRRMC staff have since been more motivated to work due to the deaths of their fellow employees.

“Mas nandoon ‘yong kagustuhan naming maglingkod kasi may kasama kaming talagang fallen in the middle of the action,” he said.

He added the NDRRMC also implemented stricter health protocols to prevent the further spread of the virus.

Moreover, other NDRRMC staff who tested positive for the disease were brought to quarantine facilities. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/RSJ, GMA News
