By JOVILAND RITA,GMA News

A "technical problem" marred the Department of Education's launch of its school readiness program on Monday, two weeks before the August 24 start of School Year 2020-2021.

“Pagpasensyahan niyo na po, bigla po tayong nawala sa ere sapagkat nagkaroon lamang po ng technical problem,” the event host was heard saying at the introduction of the program.

Titled “Handang Isip, Handa Bukas National Kick-off Program”, the event was originally scheduled to start at 8:45 a.m.

Due to the glitch, the DepEd decided to proceed with its press conference around 10 a.m. The press conference was supposed to be held at the end of the program at 12 noon.

The virtual launch, which was led by the Region 12 Office, aims to showcase the readiness of schools in different areas for the blended learning approach to education amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the press conference, DepEd Undersecretary Nepomuceno told Secretary Leonor Briones that the Region 12 Office is trying to fix the technical glitch.

“The Region 12 was trying to address the glitch. We might still be able to proceed with this. We might still see the dry-runs,” Malaluan said.

From the original schedule of 8:45 a.m., the program was able to start around 11 a.m. —KBK, GMA News
