'Covid toes or fingers' could be symptom of coronavirus —experts


Covid toes or fingers can be sign of COVID-19 infection especially in asymptomatic cases

Aside from common symptoms such as fever, sore throat, loss of smell, among others, some experts are beginning to suspect that  "Covid toes or fingers" can be another sign of coronavirus infection.

An article in the New York Times has reported on the observation of San Francisco dermatologist Dr. Lindy Fox that before the COVID-19 pandemic she used to see every year four or five patients with "chilblains" or painful red inflammations in fingers or toes associated with cold air.

But over the past weeks, she said she has seen dozens.

“All of a sudden, we are inundated with toes,” said Dr. Fox, who practices at the University of California, San Francisco. “I’ve got clinics filled with people coming in with new toe lesions. And it’s not people who had chilblains before — they’ve never had anything like this.”

In Boston, Dr. Esther Freeman, director of global health dermatology at the Massachusetts General Hospital, said her telemedicine clinic is also “completely full of toes. I had to add extra clinical sessions, just to take care of toe consults. People are very concerned,” the NYT report said.
