Abu Sayyaf leader Susukan brought to Camp Crame for processing

Abu Sayyaf Group leader Abduljihad Susukan was brought to Camp Crame in Quezon City early Saturday morning, Olan Bola reported over Super Radyo's DZBB.

The aircraft that brought Susukan to Clark airport from Davao City arrived a few minutes after midnight.

Susukan was then brought to Camp Crame in a convoy at about 1 a.m. early Saturday morning for processing.

The convoy included a coaster, a SWAT team and Explosive Ordnance Disposal/ K9 vehicle.

The Philippine National Police Public Information Office said Susukan is at the PNP Custodial Center.

The PNP took custody of Susukan, PNP chief Police General Archie Gamboa announced on Thursday night.

Susukan was handed over to police at the residence of Moro National Liberation Front founder Nur Misuari in Yñigue Subdivision, Maa, Davao City.

The PNP said it initiated a negotiation after learning that Susukan was brought to Davao City to receive medical attention.

The police served 23 warrants of arrest of murder, five for kidnapping and serious illegal detention, and six for frustrated murder against Susukan.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said security forces were not aware Susukan arrived in Davao City for a medical checkup until his photo appeared in media reports.

The Defense chief said, based on information he obtained, Misuari is claiming that he brought the Abu Sayyaf leader to yield him to the authorities.

According to Lorenzana, authorities will still investigate if Misuari could be charged for his action.

This was also confirmed by Davao City Police chief Police Colonel Kirby John Kraft who told GMA News Online part of the probe is to determine how long Susukan had stayed with Misuari.

Armed Forces of the Philippines spokesperson Major General Edgard Arevalo meanwhile said on Friday the arrest of Susukan dealt a huge blow to the local terrorist group.

Arevalo also said the PNP will take temporary custody of the Abu Sayyaf leader "pending court order as to the detention facility where Susukan will be jailed." —With a report from Jonathan Andal/BAP/KG, GMA News
