MIAA to investigate overpriced face shields reportedly sold at NAIA

Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Ed Monreal ordered an investigation on the supposed sale of overpriced face shields at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport as their use was made mandatory in public transportation.

According to a Sunday report on 24 Oras Weekend, MIAA Public Affairs head Ma. Consuelo Bungag said in a statement that an investigation will be conducted, and employees found to be involved will be relieved.

This follows reports that face shields were being sold at the NAIA at prices as high as P200 each.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) earlier this month released a Memorandum Circular which mandated the use of face shields, aside from wearing face masks, in any mode of public transportation service effective August 15, 2020.

For its part, the Department of Health (DOH) set the suggested retail price (SRP) for basic non-medical face shields at P26 to P50 per piece. — DVM, GMA News
