NDFP consultant Echanis laid to rest

National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) consultant Randall "Ka Randy" Echanis was laid to rest on Monday.

Former Anakpawis partylist Representative Ariel Casilao said Echanis was laid to rest at 11:30 a.m. at Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City.

The loved ones and colleagues of the peasant leader held a "hero's funeral march" for Echanis. Anakpawis ensured that social distancing was observed by those who attended the march.

They also called for justice on Echanis' slay.

On August 10, Echanis and his neighbor, Louie Tagapia, were found dead inside an apartment in Novaliches, Quezon City.

The body of Echanis was not immediately released to his family as police earlier identified him as one Manuel Santiago, based on the identification card found in the rented residence.

A fingerprint test had confirmed that Echanis and Santiago are "one and the same person." — RSJ, GMA News
