The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will begin offering in September free training for individuals who want to become contact tracers.

The program does not have an age limit or requirement but trainees should have completed at least 10 years of basic education or should be a holder of an alternative learning system certificate of completion equivalent to Grade 10.

TESDA said there will be three competencies of the program such as basic, common and core competencies.

The curriculum was developed by TESDA together with the Department of Health-Health and Human Resources Bureau, several medical experts and the Baguio City contact tracing team.

“Contact tracing is a skill. ‘Di naman puwedeng kahit sino na lang so ito ‘yong contribution ng TESDA para mas maraming competent na contact tracers,” Lina Sarmiento, TESDA deputy director general for technical education and skills development operations, said.
