Philippines' COVID-19 tally now over 220k with 3,446 new cases

The Philippines’ coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) tally soared to 220,819 after the Department of Health (DOH) announced 3,446 new infections on Monday, the sixth consecutive day in which more than 3,000 new cases were reported.

The five provinces with the highest number of new infections were Metro Manila with 1,900, Laguna with 163, Cavite with 161, Leyte with 155, and Pampanga with 116.

Among the newly reported cases, 86 percent or 3,446 contracted COVID-19 in the past 14 days.

Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries rose to 157,562 after 165 more patients recovered from the respiratory illness.

The death toll also climbed to 3,558 with 38 new fatalities. -NB, GMA News
