GCash reminds cash aid beneficiaries vs unofficial SMS messages

By TED CORDERO,GMA News

Mobile wallet GCash reminded beneficiaries of the government’s Social Amelioration Program (SAP) not to entertain messages from random mobile numbers regarding their cash subsidy.

“May I remind beneficiaries na authorized Gcash channels lang po, GCash at 2882, ang magse-send ng SMS (short messaging service). ‘Pag hindi po ‘yun wag papansinin,” GCash account manager for Enterprise Arielle Wang said.

“Ang SMS notification ay manggagaling talaga sa official GCash channel na ang nakalagay ‘GCash’ o 2882. May nae-encounter kasi na random mobile number ang nag me-message... it’s possible na hindi yun mga safe na mga avenues,” Wang said.

GCash is among the financial services providers tapped by the Department of Social Welfare and Development for releasing the first and second tranche of SAP.

Wang said the Globe-back mobile wallet covers the distribution of cash subsidies of SAP beneficiaries in the National Capital Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Region 1, Region 3, Region 4, and Region 7.

The DSWD has said that the SAP 2’s distribution rate is now at 96%, covering 13.7 million beneficiaries.

The agency vowed to complete the distribution to some 1.3 million beneficiaries within September. — DVM, GMA News
