LGUs urged to provide constituents with face shields

By VIRGIL LOPEZ, GMA News

The country’s COVID-19 task force has urged local government units (LGUs) to provide their constituents with face shields to prevent the spread of the virus.

In a resolution approved on September 3, the task force said the distribution of face shields is subject to availability of funds and priority will be given to members of the vulnerable population such as the elderly and pregnant women.

Apart from public transportation and work places, wearing of face shields will also be required in supermarkets, public markets, malls, and in venues where government-initiated meetings and critical government services are being conducted or provided.

The national government also encouraged the wearing of face shields in other public areas.

Health authorities have pointed out that the use of face shields and masks reduces exposure to and emission of respiratory droplets that carry the virus considerably.—AOL, GMA News
