Duterte wants newspapers to publish gov't contracts, winning bidders

President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday said he wanted newspapers to publish lists of ongoing government projects and the corresponding winning bidders for the remainder of his term.

In a televised briefing in Malacañang, Duterte said he wants the government to buy several pages from major newspapers to publish government projects that have been completed or are undergoing negotiation.

“In one page, ‘under negotiation’… Gusto ko malaman sinong mga contractor na nanalo. May listahan ako sa mga demonyo na ‘yan,” he said.

“Malaman ng tao ‘yung estimated project tapos magkano ang winning bid, to whom it was awarded, and for how much… That will be an on and on story for the last two years,” Duterte added.

In 2016, Duterte claimed that the “lowest bid is the source of corruption.” -NB, GMA News
