‘WITH EXEMPTIONS’

Gov’t eyeing to enforce ban on home quarantine — Año

The national government is eyeing to strictly ban home quarantine to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 among households, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said Tuesday.

"What we are really going to do is really strictly implement the no home quarantine kasi mayroon na tayo, halimbawa sa mga well to do, mayroon naman tayong COVID hotels na kung saan puwede sila mag-isolate," Año said in an interview on CNN-Philippines.

"Very important kasi na talagang mailabas sila sa bahay kasi ano eh nahahawa 'yung pamilya. That is for the sake of family members," he added.

Año said there would be exemptions in this measure, including elderlies who could no longer be transferred to quarantine facilities in their localities.

He said the national task force against COVID-19 has already started discussing the measure, which is intended to be enforced within the week.

Año, however, said this should still be approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
