Sorsogon Rep. Ditas Ramos passes away after testing positive for COVID-19

Sorsogon 2nd District Representative Maria Bernardita "Ditas" Ramos has passed away after testing positive for COVID-19.

House Deputy Majority Leader Xavier Jesus Romualdo announced the development during the plenary session of the chamber on Tuesday.

"It is with sadness that we just found out that our dear colleague, Rep. Maria Bernardita 'Ditas' Ramos of the 2nd district of Sorsogon has passed away," Romualdo said.

Following the announcement of her passing, the House offered a prayer for her led by Pangasinan Rep. Christopher de Venecia.

House Secretary-General Jose Luis Montales announced on Sunday that they have received a report that Ramos tested positive for COVID-19.

“She developed symptoms and got tested in the province,” Montales said.

Ramos is the second House member who died after testing positive COVID-19 following Senior Citizens party-list Representative Francisco "Jun" Datol Jr.

Currently, a total of 70 cases of COVID-19 have already been reported at the House of Representatives. -MDM, GMA News
