Cemeteries in Mandaluyong, Angeles cities to be closed for Undas 2020

Cemeteries in Mandaluyong City and Angeles, Pampanga will be closed for Undas 2020 as a preventive measure amid the coronavirus pandemic, the two local governments said on Wednesday.

According to Super Radyo dzBB’s Glen Juego, Mayor Menchie Abalos has approved the temporary closure of cemeteries in Mandaluyong from October 30 to November 2.

The Mandaluyong Public Information Office confirmed that an executive order on the matter will be issued within the week.

The directive will affect the San Felipe Neri Catholic Cemetery, Paradise Park, and Garden of Life cemeteries.

Mayor Carmelo Lazatin, Jr. likewise said that cemeteries in Angeles City will be closed from October 30 to November 2 to prevent the possible transmission of COVID-19.

“While the city government respects the Filipino tradition of remembering our departed loved ones, the mass gathering of people in these particular days poses danger and may spread disease due to lack of social distancing,” he said in Executive Order No. 19.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno earlier ordered the closure of cemeteries in Manila from October 31 to November 3.
