A group of concerned doctors and citizens pushing of for the end of COVID-19 lockdowns nationwide are scheduled to meet with the Inter-Agency Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases.
Interviewed on Dobol B sa News TV on Sunday, former Health Secretary Dr. Jaime Galvez-Tan said their group Concerned Doctors and Citizens of the Philippines will discuss the proposal to the IATF on Sunday.
"Inimbita na kami sa IATF itong darating na Linggo para makipagpulong” said Tan, who is a member of the concerned group with 3,000 members.
According to Tan, the government should also focus on health promotion in communities nationwide to prevent the spread of COVID-19 instead of imposing lockdown, which impacts many livelihoods.
“Wala tayong sinasabi na ili-lift mo ang lockdown na wala kang ginagawa para maiwasan,” Tan noted.
Tan pointed out that the government should also promote healthy lifestyle to the public such as getting enough sleep, diet, and exposure to sunlight.
“Ang payo namin. Sabay-sabay ito. Ipairal muna itong community-based health promotion sa lahat ng komunidad—42,000 barangays,” he added.
“Ngayon, kahit may lockdown dumadami (ang cases ) pero maraming nagugutom marami pa rin ang walang trabaho, marami pa rin ang mga hindi nakakabalik sa trabaho,” Tan said. —LBG, GMA News
