The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Friday promised that the agency would not tolerate having its personnel, as well as other government officials, involved in the so-called "pastillas" immigration bribery scheme.

"There is no 'sacred cow.' This also includes other government officials na nai-involve sa ganu'ng gawain, especially sa NBI," said NBI Director Eric Distor at a press briefing.

"It's a warning that we are implementing a no nonsense law enforcement cleansing, including in our backyard."

against NBI legal assistance chief Joshua Paul Capiral and his brother Immigration Bureau medical section officer Christopher John.

The Capiral brothers underwent inquest proceedings at the Department of Justice on Wednesday.

The NBI also filed complaints against 19 BI personnel over the "pastillas"  bribery scheme that allowed thousands of Chinese workers to illegally enter the Philippines.

"We are just waiting for the resolution and we will be filing other administrative proceedings or cases, including disbarment proceedings," said Distor. — DVM, GMA News
