Military says 3 NPA rebels killed in Masbate clash

Three suspected members of the New People's Army (NPA) were killed during an encounter in Mandaon, Masbate on Monday.

Initial information from Southern Luzon Command (Solcom) spokesman Colonel Dennis Cana said forces from the 2nd Infantry Battalion and the 1st Masbate Police Mobile Force Company were conducting law enforcement support operations in Barangay Alas when they encountered the rebels.

The gun battle lasted for 15 minutes, Cana said.

He added no casualty was recorded on the side of the government.

Seized in the area were two shotguns, a Carbine rifle, one M1 Garand, an anti-personnel mine, and some subversive documents.—AOL, GMA News
