Work in all courts across the Philippines will be suspended at 3:30 p.m. on Monday in observance of Family Week, the Supreme Court (SC) said.

"Chief Justice Peralta leads the Judiciary in celebrating Family Week pursuant to Proclamation No. 60 (s.1992)," the SC Public Information Office announced.

"Work in all courts nationwide today shall only be until 3:30PM, to encourage court employees to spend more time with their families," it said.

Proclamation No. 60 is a 1992 presidential declaration of the last week of September every year as Family Week.

Work in government offices under the executive branch will also be suspended starting 3:30 p.m. Monday to allow employees to celebrate Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea encouraged other branches of government, independent commissions or bodies, and the private sector to do the same.

However, agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations, according to the Palace memorandum circular.—AOL, GMA News
