Duterte might announce quarantine classifications for October in Monday’s address -Palace

President Rodrigo Duterte might announce on Monday evening the community quarantines that will be implemented across the country in October, Malacañang said.

Duterte’s address will take place after the meeting of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF), according to his spokesperson Harry Roque.

“Mayroon po kasing address sa taumbayan ang ating Pangulo mamayang gabi, so, sana po iyong classification eh mapasama na nga sa kaniyang address,” Roque told reporters in a briefing.

Roque also said that the community quarantine classifications will now be based on two-week growth rate and daily attack rate.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the two-week growth rate refers to the growth in the number of cases for the past two weeks. The daily attack rate, meanwhile, is the number of cases over a certain period of time over a certain number of population.

“This is more sensitive, kasi nakikita natin iyong true picture of the community,” she said.

“The case doubling time and mortality doubling time will still be used, but this will be used as an overall guide and it can be used for analysis for the overall trends of the country.”

Most areas in the Philippines are under less stringent quarantine measures (general community quarantine or modified general community quarantine) this September.

But the government has also implemented strict COVID-19 restrictions in the cities of Iligan, Bacolod, and Iloilo as well as in Lanao del Sur province due to an upward trend of new infections.

Iloilo City’s appeal to return to GCQ will also be discussed by the IATF, Roque said.—AOL, GMA News
