Over 533 million copies of self-learning modules distributed —DepEd official

The Department of Education (DepEd) has distributed more than 533 million self-learning modules that will be used for blended learning this coming school year, Education Undersecretary Tonisito Umali said.

Interviewed on Super Radyo dzBB on Thursday, Umali said students will use a set of modules for the first two weeks of the classes starting October 5.

“We have already distributed 533,209,023 self-learning modules nationwide as of September 27 po ito. We're good to go,” Umali said.

According to Umali, around 24.72 million students both in public and private schools have already enrolled. The number is around 90% of the total enrollment recorded last year, he added.

DepEd earlier said it would encourage students with smartphones to access the modules online instead of availing the printed documents to ease printing requirements.

DepEd Undersecretary Diosdado Antonio said that 59% of the 22 million students enrolled in public schools or almost 13 million learners preferred the use of the printed lessons.

With this, San Antonio said the number of students who will be provided with the printed copy of the self-learning modules will be reduced to six million from 13 million.—Joviland Rita/LDF, GMA News
