475 more health workers contract COVID-19; total rises to 9,822

The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday reported that 475 more health workers contracted coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) over the past week, raising the total to 9,822 as of October 3.

In its daily COVID-19 report, the DOH said total recoveries among health workers rose to 9,100 after 503 more recovered from the respiratory disease, while the death toll climbed to 61 with two new fatalities.

The other 661 medical worker cases are active cases undergoing treatment or quarantine.

The five medical professions with the highest number of COVID-19 cases are nurses with 3,402 infections, doctors with 1,762, nursing assistants with 744, medical technologists with 457, and midwives with 245.

Over 500 other non-medical personnel, such as utility workers, security guards, and administrative staff, were also included in the tally.
