PNP to seek ban on videoke during class hours


The Philippine National Police (PNP) aims to request barangay officials to impose a ban on the operation of videoke machines during class hours to avoid the disruption of online classes the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, according to the Monday report of Chino Gaston on Saksi.

An ordinance prohibiting the operation of videoke machines after 10 p.m. is already in place in Manila, however, with the start of the online classes the policy is extended to cover school hours.

PNP Chief General Camilo Pancratius Cascolan said they will request barangay officials to formulate a resolution with regard to the use of the videoke machines.

He added that the PNP will be working with the local government units and barangays.

The owner of a videoke machine, which he rents out to clients, told GMA News that he understands the proposal.

The students who are at home attending online classes will be distracted by the videoke machines.

There will be also added police visibility in university campuses, Cascolan added.

The PNP are also on alert on cyberbullying as they will also monitor internet cafes and pisonet operators to make sure that safety protocols area followed. -- BAP, GMA News
