Eleazar: Check your destination’s travel rules first before leaving

Even though the national government eased travel restrictions between general community quarantine and modified general community quarantine areas, Joint Task Force COVID Shield chief Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar has advised the public to check first the regulations of the locality they are heading to before traveling.

Interviewed on Dobol B sa News TV on Monday, Eleazar said some local government units still impose strict measures when it comes to accepting visitors, adding that some could still require travel authority and medical certificate.

"Linawin po natin 'yun, so kasi po ang akala ng lahat ng ating kababayan, eh puwede na for any purpose itong mga non-APOR at LSI na basta na lang po pumunta kung saan-saang lugar," Eleazar said.

"Ang ating pong advice sa ating mga kababayan, kung kayo po'y maglalakbay, pupunta o magko-cross kayo ng mga boundary, alamin ninyo muna kung ano po 'yung pinaiiral na regulation sa lugar na 'yun," he added.

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases recently allowed the intrazonal movement of persons not authorized outside of residences across areas placed under GCQ or MGCQ and the interzonal movement of non-APOR between areas placed under MGCQ and the new normal, regardless of purpose.

Aside from relaxing travel restrictions, the national government also decided to allow individuals aged 15 to 65-years-old to go out of their residences.

But presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said "local government units may impose a higher age limit for minors, depending on the COVID-19 situation in their respective jurisdictions."

It also allowed shorter curfew hours and multiple work shifts to allow more workers and buyers to contribute in reviving the country's economy. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
