Philippines’ COVID-19 cases exceed 373,000 with 1,524 new infections

The number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the Philippines rose to 373,144 on Tuesday with 1,524 new infections as 15 laboratories failed to submit reports on time.

This marks the second consecutive day where less than 2,000 cases were reported.

 

According to the Department of Health (DOH), the areas with the highest number of new infections were Negros Occidental with 115, Cavite with 76, Benguet with 72, Quezon City with 67, and Laguna with 65.

Meanwhile, 353 more patients have recovered from the illness, bringing the total to 328,602, while the death toll climbed to 7,053 with 14 new fatalities.

There are also 37,489 remaining active cases undergoing treatment or quarantine, of which 82.9 percent are mild, 11 percent are asymptomatic, 2.2 percent are severe, and 4 percent are in critical condition.

Fifty-five percent of the country’s intensive care unit beds available and 78 percent of the mechanical ventilators are ready for use.

Experts from the OCTA Research team have identified 18 areas in the country considered at high-risk for COVID-19 based on their high record of daily new cases, attack rate, and hospital occupancy.

Meanwhile, President Rodrigo Duterte has placed Metro Manila and six other areas under general community quarantine from November 1 to 30.—AOL, GMA News
