Motorists express frustration over long RFID queues

A driver on Tuesday expressed his displeasure with the long lines of cars and motorists rushing to have their RFIDs installed before the implementation of cashless payments along expressways.

In Ivan Mayrina's report on “24 Oras,” Nilo Rellama said that he had been attempting to line up for his RFID sticker for the past three days.

The cars that converged to get their RFID at the Balintawak Toll Plaza created a line that reached EDSA. A long line of cars aiming to get a sticker was also seen in the Mindanao Avenue Toll Plaza.

TVNS driver Egay Manuel, meanwhile, suggested that an appointment system would ensure quick processing.

Manuel was also among those who persevered with the RFID queuing as he needed it for his livelihood.

The Toll Regulatory Board meanwhile explained that though it would begin implementing cashless payments by November 2, there was no deadline for the installation of RFIDs.

— Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM, GMA
