Duterte declares September 8 of every year as National Green Building Day

President Rodrigo Duterte has declared September 8 of every year as the National Green Building Day to promote sustainable development in the construction sector.

Signed on October 21, Duterte’s Proclamation 1030 aims to raise awareness on the efficient and equitable use of resources, proper water and waste management, and integration of eco-friendly processes and systems.

“There is a need to provide opportunities to encourage cooperation between the public and private sectors in advancing the government’s commitment to protect the environment,” the proclamation stated.

Duterte tasked the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), in coordination with relevant non-government organizations and civil society groups, to promote the observance of the National Green Building Day through projects, programs and activities.

The President directed all government agencies, state-owned corporations as well as state universities and colleges to support the DPWH. He also encouraged the local government units and the private sector to do the same.—AOL, GMA News
