Some courts in areas hit by Rolly report minor damages —Supreme Court

Some courts in areas hardest hit by Super Typhoon Rolly reported little to no damage, the Supreme Court (SC) said Tuesday.

Deputy Court Administrator Raul Villanueva reported to SC spokesperson Brian Keith Hosaka that Halls of Justice in Naga City and Libmanan, Camarines Sur lost electricity and suffered minor damages that are being attended to by their maintenance staff.

There was "no substantial damage yet" in Gubat and Sorsogon City, Sorsogon, and no reported damage in Siniloan, Laguna, Villanueva said.

Courts in Marinduque and their staff reported no or minimal damage, while those in Occidental Mindoro and Romblon, Romblon were spared, he said.

Rolly was a super typhoon when it made landfall on Catanduanes before dawn on Sunday, packing maximum sustained wind speeds of 225 kilometers (140 miles) per hour and dumping heavy rain across the region.

It made its second landfall over Tiwi, Albay, hours later.

As of Monday night, Rolly had killed 20 people in the Bicol region. It also destroyed the homes of around 6,000 Albay residents. —KG, GMA News
