NDRRMC says infra damage due to Rolly now over P8B


The damage to infrastructure caused by Super Typhoon Rolly has reached P8,473,811,685.78, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Thursday.

According to the NDRRMC, the damage covered Regions I, II, III, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, V, VIII, Cordillera Administrative Region and the National Capital Region.

It said a total of 44,033 residences were destroyed in Region V, MIMAROPA, as well as CAR.

Meanwhile, the damage to agriculture already amounted to P2,936,171,400. This includes damage to crops, livestock, fisheries and agricultural facilities in Regions V, VIII, CALABARZON, and MIMAROPA.

Death toll

Meanwhile, the death toll remains at 20. The number of injuries, however, rose to 165 in Region V, CALABARZON, and MIMAROPA.

Three individuals are still missing, according to the latest situation report of the NDRRMC.

The NDRRMC has said more than two million individuals have been affected by Rolly which first hit Bato, Catanduanes on Sunday. It also made landfall over Tiwi, Albay.

President Rodrigo Duterte visited some areas hit by Rolly on Monday. He directed an investigation of quarrying activities in Albay following the extent of damage in the province brought by Rolly. -MDM, GMA News
