Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Camilo Pancratius Cascolan on Friday said he is open to a new government post once he retires from the police service.

"Yes, of course. I'm always here for the President," Cascolan said when asked by reporters if he is open to having a new position in the government.

A graduate of the Philippine Military Academy "Sinagtala" Class of 1986, Cascolan is set to retire on November 10.

Cascolan said there is no word yet from President Rodrigo Duterte regarding the possible extension of his two-month term as PNP chief.

"Wala po," Cascolan said. "As a true soldier, we always do our job. Tayo po ay gumagawa lang ng trabaho up to the time that we will retire."

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said the names of three candidates for Cascolan's replacement have already been submitted to Duterte. He did not identify them. —KBK, GMA News
