Año suggests online caroling during holidays amid COVID-19 threat

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año on Tuesday suggested that caroling be done online following the proposal to ban street caroling due to the threat of COVID-19 pandemic.

"Kung magkakaroon ng caroling siguro online na lang, online caroling. Pero 'yung personal at saka face to face ay sa ngayon hindi pa muna nararapat dahil hindi pa natin nafa-flatten ang curve," Año said in a radio interview.

The Joint Task Force COVID Shield already expressed support to recommendations to ban caroling during the Christmas holidays due to the danger of COVID-19 infections among children.

JTF COVID Shield commander Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar said they are waiting for the decision of the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases regarding the proposals.

The local governments of Manila and Quezon City have already banned caroling in the streets over the holidays. —KG, GMA News
