The Philippines on Wednesday reported 1,383 new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infections, bringing the total tally to 412,097, as 17 laboratories failed to submit data on time.

This marks the ninth consecutive day where less than 2,000 cases were reported. Four duplicate cases were also removed from the case count.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), the areas with the highest number of new cases were Cavite with 81, Laguna with 74, Batangas with 71, Quezon City with 69, and Rizal with 67.

The DOH also announced that total recoveries rose to 374,666 after 143 more patients recovered from the illness while 95 new fatalities brought the death toll to 7,957.
