AFP names Rear Admiral Enriquez as new WesCom commander

Rear Admiral Ramil Roberto Enriquez was named as the new commander of the Western Command, according to the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

AFP Public Affairs Office chief Captain Jonathan Zata confirmed this to reporters on Tuesday.

Zata said Enriquez of the Philippine Navy would replace Lieutenant General Erickson Gloria, who now sits as the military's Vice Chief of Staff

"Admiral Enriquez is a well-seasoned naval officer, having commanded major, several types of commissioned vessels," Zata said. 

"He distinguished himself not only sa naval operations but also in naval intelligence, his leadership acumen or his positive leadership impresses us," he added. 

Zata said the AFP is confident that Enriquez's "brand of leadership would provide results to his new assignment." 

Zata said the change of command was scheduled today, November 24. —KG, GMA News
