Cayetano to PACC: Bare corrupt congressmen only if you have evidence

The Presidential Anti-Crime Commission (PACC) should name the members of House of Representatives it is investigating for alleged corruption if it had evidence against them, Taguig Representative Alan Peter Cayetano said.

Congressmen cried foul when PACC Commissioner Greco Belgica’s said that 12 members of the House were being investigated for conspiring with some contractors to pocket off from government infrastructure projects.

I’m all for revealing the names, pag kumpleto yung ebidensya mo, pero kung haka-haka kasi, batuhan lang ng putik ‘yun,” Cayetano said in a chance interview.

Belgica said that the names of these lawmakers had been disclosed to President Rodrigo Duterte.

The President, however, refused to reveal the names and justified it by saying that lawmakers are under the purview of the Office of the Ombudsman headed by Samuel Martires.

Cayetano earlier said that there would always be a bad apple in any institution, including Congress and that the Justice department can easily spot the corrupt by listing districts with huge allocations and check if these translated to legitimate projects which were completed in time.

-NB, GMA News
